Most of us know that everything is energy, including those things that you can see, taste and touch (like a car, a bed and your morning tea), and those things you can’t (like your thoughts, feelings and your imagination.)
The important thing about reading this is not to believe a single word I say, but rather to try this out for yourself to find out that it’s true. Unless you APPLY it and see the results you get, you cannot know that it is true for you, or not.
What if you spirit, instead of something mystical and ‘out there’ was alive and well, and something that you were very familiar with already, right here, right now?
What if your spirit was actually alive in your imagination?
Your imagination is a powerful tool that you were born with; a tool that creates your own reality.
As for your thoughts and your feelings, same thing: powerful creation tools. Thoughts turn into things, and when combined with imagination and feelings, they turn into things even quicker.
One of the reasons why the imagination is so powerful is that it is, literally, boundless, infinite and unlimited: the only thing that can ever limit your imagination is you!
Even if you’re doing so for very good reasons you may want to ask yourself how that’s been working for you. What might happen if you were to allow yourself to imagine a bigger, brighter, richer, healthier and happier you?!
Here are some simple techniques that you can start developing right now that would help you to see how you already create your own reality. They’re easy to do, take no time at all, are fun – and they produce results. Like many new skills, it may take a few times to get the hang of it and once you do, well, there’s really no way I can know what you will create once you understand how powerful you are!
Be warned though: often, when people discover the power within themselves, they get scared and tend to forget about this power for a while, until they’re ready to pick it up gain. It happened to me, happens to people all the time – and that’s ok. When you’re ready you’ll come back to it, because ultimately it is who you are!
UPSET ABOUT THE PAST? CHANGE IT!
This is a great technique that you can use
- Whenever anything’s happens that you wish hadn’t
- Something didn’t happen that you wish had
- When you go to bed (2 minutes)
- When you wake up (2 minutes)
Let’s imagine you have an argument with someone. If you’re like most people, you’ll then replay that scene in your head – over and over and over again – for hours, days, weeks or months! (with the same outcome every time, of course, and you’ll get upset every time you think about it). You’ll probably also complain to your partner, friends and anyone that cares to listen, and paint out future scenarios that end as bad as this one.
Let’s take a look at what’s really happened from an energy (or creation) perspective.
What you’ve effectively (and totally understandably) done, is to give this event a lot of power and focus: by THINKING the negative thoughts, re-IMAGINING over and over in your mind what happened and what will happen in the future and FEELING upset, angry, resentful or blaming – you have unconsciously applied the three main ingredients of manifestation
- thoughts
- imagination
- feelings
You have effectively planted seeds for more of the same to come and the chances are about 100% that the same, or similar, situation will happen again; if not today then tomorrow and if not with the person you had that particular argument with, then with someone else.
Whenever, however and with whomever it happens, you’ll end up feeling the same way as you felt after the original incident and you may even say “You see, I TOLD you it would happen” not realising that you created it with your thoughts, words, imagination, beliefs and feelings.
By carrying the negative energy with you (mostly unconsciously) you attract and create similar experiences. Period!
Here are a number of ways how to stop perpetuating the pain of the past and how to start creating more of what you want. The techniques are deceptively simple – and they only work if you work them!
IT HAPPENED, CHANGE IT!
That’s right, plain and simple. Change it in your imagination; imagine that it happened differently. Imagine that they were different, that you were different, that the conversation and the outcome was different. Imagine it the way you would love it to have been.
Pretend that you are a movie director (you actually are, but’s that’s another article in itself!) and simply re-arrange the set and the people to suit your desires: take people, things and events out and add people, things and events as you wish!
Were they more respectful or you more patient? Did it end in a hug and a joke and both of you happy, loving and connected?
The key here is to FEEL what you would have felt like and to THINK what you would have thought like, had the scene played out the way you’ve now changed it in your imagination.
It only takes 20 or 30 seconds (feel free to enjoy it for longer!) and here’s why it works.
By replaying the negative event over and over, you create a negative energy field that attracts similar experiences to you. By changing it, your mind will still know what actually happened – you are not fiddling with your memory – but you’ll FEEL better about it right away which is a win in itself; and, because you FEEL better you’ll THINK differently, you may even come up with a solution that you’d not thought of before.
This happens all the time (think about it…) and if you feel better it, you’ll approach that same person differently (with less or even without resentment and blame) which is likely to create a different outcome in your future conversations with them.
I’ve personally experienced miraculous changes in my relationships with people I’ve had conflicts with, sometimes within hours or days of doing this exercise. It absolutely works if you work it!
The first time I used this tecnnique was after having a row with the staff at a bookstore in Sydney. As I was walking (more like fuming!) home I realised that I was giving the event so much power that it could easily spoil my whole day so I decided to just change it. I played a different scene altogether from the one that actually happened: they were friendly, reasonable and helpful, we had a great chat and a laugh and I left the store happy and grateful. It only took about 30 seconds to change it and I did it even as I was walking along in public; no need for privacy, or a meditation cushion – just DO it!
I felt better immediately and even as I’m writing this I’m smiling because I remember the ‘happy’ incident rather than the unpleasant one that actually happened!
If you want to make this exercise even more powerful tap on any of the EFT tappingpoints or simply squeeze your fingertips, one after the other as you imagine the new scene.
ROUTINELY CHANGE YOUR DAY, WEEK, MONTH, LIFE
If you want to see extraordinary results in your life (synchronicities, ‘coincidences’ and miracles) and feel better almost immediately, for 2 minutes at night as you drift off to sleep every night, go through your entire day and change everything that you didn’t like about it. This can then resolve and integrate even deeper as you sleep, allowing new possibilities that simply did not exist before. (Truth is they did actually exist but you weren’t open to them!)
In the morning as you wake up and before you even open your eyes, cast your mind back to yesterday, last week, last month, and if you find anything there that still niggles, change it in the same way; you’ll notice your energy levels go up and feeling better almost immediately; it’s a great way to start your day!
If your mind comes up with ‘Yes but this makes no sense because I know what REALLY happened ‘ – that’s exactly right; and the way you FEEL about what really happened is creating your future – so you get to choose: hang on to the old and get more of
it, or change it and create something different and new next time around!
You can apply this technique to ANY painful event in your past. Re-write the script and see how it changes your future. Power it up by tapping on any of the tapping points.
“LIVING IN THE HOUSE”
I learnt this expression from the writings of Neville Goddard, someone whose teachings I highly respect, value and recommend and this is what it means.
You know that thing you want? That job, house, car or partner? More money? Better health? Feeling happier?
Squeeze your fingertips and close your eyes. Allow yourself to really get in touch with how much you WANT it; feel that WANTING. If there’s some desperation in the mix, good!
Notice how this feeling of really wanting something does not actually feel good at all. The reason that is does not feel good is because wanting something implies not having it, i.e. lack. This is a key concept to understand and you’ll soon see why this is so important.
Now think of something you already have that you’re pleased with. It could be a car, a house, a partner, or your left hand.
Again, squeezing your fingertips and closing our eyes, feel what it feels like to HAVE something already, to KNOW that you already have it.
Now open our eyes: did you notice how the feeling of WANTING is very differing from the feeling of HAVING?
The way to HAVING what you want is to create the feeling to HAVING it now, here, already. Perpetually feeling that you WANT something leads to only one thing and one thing only and that’s to more WANTING.
Here’s how to apply this principle practically, right now.
Let’s imagine (no pun intended) that you’d like to go on a holiday to somewhere where it’s warm. Even if you don’t have the money or the time to go, and you have 1,000,001 reasons why you cannot go (the kids, the dog, the boss or the economy) , here’s how to create that holiday:
- Find a quiet place, close your eyes and focus on your breathing for a minute or so; this will help your body relax and get present.
- Now imagine yourself in as much detail as possible being where you want to be or having what you want to have.
- See a picture of you on a beach, with exactly the facial expression you’d like to have, wearing what you’d like to be wearing, feeling the way you’d like to be feeling.
- Now step into your body in that picture and experience it form the inside. BE there. FEEL what it feels like being there. HEAR the sounds. TASTE the cool drink. SMELL the sea; FEEL the warmth of the sun on your skin.
- To make this even more powerful, tap on any of the tapping points or squeeze your fingertips.
- Enjoy this for anything from a few seconds to as long as you wish!
- ‘Live in the house’ like this in your imagination persistently every day for a few minutes until you become so familiar with that place that it’s like you’re already there, and it will happen as surely as you are reading this now (and very likely in a way that you could never have imagined).
- You can do the same for the relationship you want, or the house (hence the expression ‘living in the house’, the body or the bank balance – whatever you want, BE there, BE it, experience it NOW as if you already have it!
A lot of people make the fatal mistake of trying to work out HOW they can get what they want; getting stuck in the ‘how’ is effectively getting in the way of the universe getting you what you want and it may take longer to come to you, or never happen at all.
Leave the ‘how’ for the magic of the universe to handle and take responsibility for the only thing you can: your imagination, thoughts and feelings; the universe will take care of the rest!
AS-IF AFFIRMATIONS
I showed you in Part 2B: The Mind how to power up your affirmation as a way to start changing your mind (thoughts); here is another way to make them even more powerful.
Pick something you’d like to be. A mom, a teacher, a millionaire, a Porche owner. Now say ‘I AM … ‘followed by what you want to be, whilst tapping on any of the tapping points or squeezing your fingertips and IMAGINE being that right NOW, already, here and now. Walk around the room as if it’s already happened (or happening, not something in the future that is still to happen) and it’s true RIGHT NOW (there is only NOW).
The more senses you can engage (sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste, feeling) the more you’re truly engaging with the universe to create exactly that.
SAY WHAT?
Think of something that you’d like to be, do or have.
Now imagine that it’s already happened, that you already ARE what you want to be, are doing what you’d like to be doing, or that you already have whatever it is that you wanted and ask yourself these 3 powerful questions.
1. What would you be saying to other people? (e.g. your friends)
Imagine you sharing the wonderful news (of the promotion, the new partner, the money, the house) with someone that you know will be delighted for you. Imagine having that conversation with them right now, hear the sound of your voice, look them in the eyes in your imagination and tell them the good news!
2. What would they be saying to you?
Now notice how they respond!
See their faces lit up, see how they are laughing with you, feel how they shake your hand or hug you, hear their voice or laughter, delight and congratulations!
3. What would they be saying about you?
Now imagine overhearing people who care about and respect you, talk about you in a loving kinds and supportive way. Imagine them talking in great detail about your great fortune, how amazing things are for you, how happy (or wealthy, or health) you are. Hear the delight and excitement in their voices!
Tap along to make this even more powerful!
CONGRATULATIONS, OLD CHAP!
While you do the dishes, brush your teeth or wait for the bus, here’s something you can do that I guarantee will give you great results, make you feel better and bring on those ‘coincidences’ and miracles even quicker.
Imagine hearing the voices, seeing the faces or receiving the emails from people saying ‘thank you’ or congratulating you all the time. In your imagination, feel their handshakes or hugs, hear their voices, read their emails; feel the pride and excitement in your body, the gratitude, the joy, the wealth, the health.
Feel it your body right now as if it’s happening right now!
WHAT ELSE IS POSSIBLE?
Here is one of the most powerful questions I’ve ever come across: WHAT ELSE IS POSSIBLE?
Here are 2 ways to use it to get more of what you want:
1. If you are stuck, if you find yourself arguing for your limitations (I can’t do this because…), or if you’re in despair and cannot see a way out, ask yourself “And I wonder what else is possible?”
Keep tapping through all the points whilst repeating this question over and over again; even if the answer does not come immediately, it will soon, and maybe in a dream, on the side of a bus, a song on the radio or in conversation with a friend.
The best thing about this is when the answer comes it’ll seem so natural and ‘of course’ that you may not even remember that you created the answer by asking this question!
2. You can also use the question as a powerful negotiation tool. If the other party is not willing to give you what you’d like, say “Yes, ok, and I wonder what else is possible?”
Do this a couple of times if need be and you’ll see how they change gears as their minds work out indeed, what else is possible!
We live in a universe of infinite possibilities, whether you believe it or not.
You can argue for your limitations and find proof everywhere why something just isn’t possible or you can start tapping into the unlimited power of the universe by asking ‘’And I wonder what else is possible?”
You choose!
IF YOU’RE STUCK, THINK BIGGER
This is one of my favourite techniques. I simply call it “When you’re stuck, think bigger” because it means pretty much exactly what it says on the tin!
If you’re stuck and cannot see a solution – THINK BIGGER.
Here’s an example: Let’s say you want to quit your job that you no longer (or never did) love and become an artist (or an EFT Practitioner).
If our mind objects with “Yes but what if you don’t have enough clients to make enough money?” then THINK BIGGER: Imagine having more than enough clients, and that, in fact, you have a waiting list of clients wanting to come see you!
If your mind then objects with “Yes but if you’re so busy who will do all the admin?” then THINK BIGGER: Imagine having an assistant; in fact – imagine having 3 assistants!
If your mind then objects with “Yes but you don’t know anything about accounts!’ then THINK BIGGER: imagine having your own accountant (or 2!).
If your mind then objects with “Yes but that’s hard work and you’ll never be able to take time off” then THINK BIGGER: imagine having a business partner that covers for you when you’re away, and you for them. Imagine having multiple business partners!
If your mind then objects with … THINK BIGGER: get the picture?
Simply IMAGINE the solution for the minds’ objections (while you tap along, of course) and then sit back and notice which possibilities you tap into and which synchronicities and ‘coincidences’ you attract and create over the next few hours, days, weeks and months.
Do this for a few minutes every day and then return to your current reality and do what you need to do; it may take a while before you’ll see anything change, but know that every time you imagine the solution in your imagination, you are invoking very powerful universal creative forces.
CONCLUSION
You are a part of an abundant universe and you have been given an enormously powerful toolkit to create whatever you desire. Abundance is your birth-right and to the extent that you are not experiencing it, you are blocking it.
The paradox is that these tools of creation that you have at your disposal (your thoughts, feelings and imagination) need to be plugged into Source to work and THAT is what I see as God; that mystical, omnipresent, all-powerful, unlimited power that only wants for you what you want; the Power and Presence that has given you not only free will to create whatever you want, but also the tools to do so, through Grace.
You create day in day out, whether you know it or not, because thoughts turn into things; now you can continue to create unconsciously as a victim of life, or you can start creating with volition that which you desire.
The choice is yours; always have been, and probably always will!
