‘THE WAY OF GRIEF’ – 3 March 2012
‘THE WAY OF GRIEF’ is a one-day workshop, which supports participants in their exploration and coming to terms with the losses they have experienced in their lives. Although loss is a universal experience, grief is unique to each individual and affects our everyday lives in many different ways. The unconscious has no sense of time. So whilst a loss often seems to occur separately and discreetly, its resulting grief can activate prior and un-grieved losses long forgotten and even evoke an irrational fear of future loss. Whether it be missed opportunities, ageing, children leaving home, the loss of self-esteem, hope, retirement, redundancy, losing youthful looks, health, fertility, or perhaps grieving for a parent, child, loved one or marriage, the affects of loss may be sudden, gradual or sometimes prolonged, dampening the spirit and draining energy.
This unique workshop is designed to help participants gain a greater understanding of themselves and the affects of grief in their lives. The day is both educational and experiential. Guided exercises held in a safe and respectful small group environment allow each individual to work through and begin to find closure to their grieving.
‘UNMASKED’ – 31 March 2012
The word ‘persona’ is a Jungian concept that means mask or covering. It is the outermost layer of the personality; the face or image we most easily present to others. From the time we are small we are busy adapting to our environment. We try on different styles of being-in-the-world, and experiment with various ways of seeing and experiencing the things and people around us.
We all wear ‘masks’ in our daily lives and in some instances they are appropriate and can serve us well, but for many of us there is a catch. We don’t consider an extremely important factor – other people are looking at us and often seeing who we have created rather than who we truly are. We often wear a ‘mask’ to protect ourselves as we fear rejection, ridicule and any other response that devalues us and by doing so are making the judgment that we are in some ways inadequate, deficient or defective. As a result we twist and turn making ourselves into whatever we believe will be more acceptable to others often losing sight of our authentic self in the process. We become determined by someone else’s values, beliefs and feelings and as a result often live in a state of fear that we will be ‘found out’.
Our experiences, beliefs, motivations and actions have shaped us into who we are and this special day encourages you to explore the ‘masks’ that you wear in your daily lives. In a safe and supportive small group environment you will have an opportunity to come face to face with the ‘mask’ that you wear and gain a greater understanding of the impact of your ‘mask’ on others. The day is both educational and experiential allowing you to tap into your imagination, creativity and honesty as you work towards dropping your ‘mask’ and sharing the truth of whom you hide behind it.
‘SHAME’S WHISPER’ – 21 April 2012
Is there a shameful part of yourself you keep hidden from the world? A part that you just ‘know’ no one will love or accept? Maybe you keep repeating self-deprecating messages without being clear of their nature or origin. Is there a part of yourself that you have difficulty acknowledging or accepting? Shame’s Whisper is a one-day workshop giving you the opportunity to discover the messages and incidents that have prevented you from feeling connected to and proud of all of whom you are. You will have the opportunity to explore these self-judgments and confront their tyranny. This experiential day will be in a mutually supportive small group environment allowing you to focus on yourself. This gives you time to explore the root of where these messages have come from and challenge their validity. This will give you the opportunity to explore your deepest secrets about yourself and increase the potential for self-awareness, self-acceptance and even self-love.
