Let me explain.

Saying ‘Yes’ to life is a FABULOUS idea.

Saying ‘Yes’ to new adventures, ditto.

And, sometimes flat-out saying ‘No’ may be the way to go to actually say an utter and resounding ‘Yes’ to yourself, to your values, your Higher Self, your calling, your happiness, your … fill the blank.

Consider this.

How about …

If you’re overweight, saying ‘NO’ to that regular extra helping of desert – in order to say YES to losing weight.

Saying ‘NO’ to friendships and relationships that no longer serve you – in order to say ‘YES’ to new and nourishing ones.

Saying ‘NO’ to doing those tasks that sucks up time and adds no value – so that you can say ‘YES’ to doing the things that mean something.

Saying ‘NO’ to the invitation that you do not wish to accept – as a way of saying ‘YES’ to yourself, your preferences, longings and desires

Saying ‘NO’ to those that constantly violate your boundaries – to say ‘YES’ to self-respect.

Saying ‘NO’ to the voice in your head that says you cannot be, do or have your dreams – to say ‘YES’ to creating what you want, say ‘YES’ to life!

Saying ‘NO’ to thoughts telling you that you are not good enough, smart enough or whatever enough – and say ‘YES’ to the truth that you have everything you need inside of you RIGHT NOW to shape your life the way you want it.

Saying ‘NO’ to the thoughts of sleeping later when the alarm goes off for your morning mediation or exercise session or whatever spiritual or alone time you long for – and say ‘YES’ to nurturing your soul.

I can come up with a million more examples but that’s not the point.

Here’s the point.

Over the next week, become aware of how many times you say ‘YES’ when actually, your heart longs  to say ‘NO’.

How about, for the next week, honouring who you are, and where you are, and trusting the ‘No’ that arises from within from time to time.

How about stopping thinking ‘I have to … ‘ or ‘I ought to …’  or ‘I should …’

How about starting to honour your wishes, your desires, your preferences, your boundaries, your values?

How about starting to respect yourself, and your ‘No’?

I know this can be scary at first.  And still, it’s a choice.  Your choice.

You see, the more you do that, the more you start shaping your life the way you want it to be, the more you step away from being a victim of life, the more you become the captain of your ship and the master of your destiny.

Now you could continue to say ‘Yes’ when you really want to say‘No’, but you know that comes with quite a heavy price-tag, don’t you?

I’ll write more soon about why it is that we sometimes say ‘Yes’ when we mean ‘No’ (and vice versa), and how tapping can help you become more true to yourself.

In the meantime, let me know on bennie@deepliving.com what happens this week when you start saying ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ in more honest ways!
